As a die hard Hip-Hop fan who has recently set up his own label , I dedicate a good deal of time trawling through the depths of Soundcloud to try and find some new music to pleasure my ears. More often than not all I can find is the same old boring boom-bap flow with jazzy beats. So what do I actually enjoy listening to when I wake up? The answer is simple; trap. However in a year where the leader of the free world is a misogynistic egomaniac, and Leonardo DiCaprio is reminding us how fucked our planet is, one of the few solaces I have is when I get a bottle of whiskey out, roll up a fat one and listen to two of the happiest people in music express their culture. I have had this debate countless amounts of times from people who just like me, love and live Hip-Hop. But these young men and women making trap music grew up on the exact same tracks we were, however their culture of guns, drugs, and sipping lean, helps to develop an entirely new form of music that, love it or hate it, is here to stay. At the end of the day, it is just young men who are trying to break out of the lifestyle they were born in — they are trying to overcome societal pressures, not in a way of conforming to the status quo, but rather by maintaining to do what they do, but just doing it with more swag. The new school of hip hop was a movement in hip hop music starting —84 with the early records of Run—D. Like the hip hop preceding it, it came predominantly from New York City. The new school was initially characterized in form by drum machine led minimalism, often tinged with elements of rock. It was notable for taunts and boasts about rapping , and socio-political commentary, both delivered in an aggressive, self-assertive style. In image as in song its artists projected a tough, cool, street b-boy attitude.
New-age music is a genre of music intended to create artistic inspiration , relaxation , and optimism. It is used by listeners for yoga , massage , meditation , reading as a method of stress management to bring about a state of ecstasy rather than trance , or to create a peaceful atmosphere in their home or other environments, and is associated with environmentalism and New Age spirituality. New-age music includes both acoustic forms, featuring instruments such as flutes , piano , acoustic guitar and a wide variety of non-Western acoustic instruments , and electronic forms, frequently relying on sustained synth pads or long sequencer -based runs. Vocal arrangements were initially rare in the genre, but as it has evolved vocals have become more common, especially those featuring Native American -, Sanskrit -, or Tibetan -influenced chants, or lyrics based on mythology such as Celtic legends. There is no exact definition of new-age music. New-age music was influenced by a wide range of artists from a variety of genres. Tony Scott 's Music for Zen Meditation is considered to be the first new-age recording. New-age music is defined more by the use and effect or feeling it produces rather than the instruments and genre used in its creation; it may be acoustic, electronic, or a mixture of both. New-age artists range from solo or ensemble performances using classical-music instruments ranging from the piano, acoustic guitar, flute or harp to electronic musical instruments , or from Eastern instruments such as the sitar , tabla , and tamboura.
