The film follows the lives of several and year-old pornographic actresses. Several to year-old young women are interviewed about their experiences as pornography performers. The film was originally imagined as an exploration of male consumption of pornography on college campuses. The filmmakers abandoned this idea when they discovered that the men were mostly watching pornographic videos starring young women. Curious about why such a large number of young women were entering the industry, the film was reoriented to tell their story. Following discussions with the public on Twitter, some of the film's statements were also clarified. Rotten Tomatoes , a review aggregator , reports that nine of eleven surveyed critics gave the film a positive review; the average rating is 6.

Porn agent Riley Reynolds infamously declared in the Netflix documentary Hot Girls Wanted that his stream of young, "teeny-bopper" hopefuls would never dry up because "every day a new girl turns 18". The controversial film followed the journeys of five women termed "barely legal" by the industry, exploring their motives for entering the seedy world of amateur porn under the wing of Reynolds. The then year-old was shown recruiting the women via classifieds site Craigslist, flying them out to Miami to live in "model houses" where they would then be booked out through his talent agency Hussie Models LLC. While described variously by critics as "dead-eyed" and "sleazy", others said he came across as an "entrepreneurial young man" who has "carved out a niche in a business that depends on his ability to connect with" women.
