Sing to your child when doing everyday activities, and sing about the activity. Singing with your child is great for brain development and, more importantly, is an intimate activity that strengthens the bond between the two of you. Use shaker eggs when reciting nursery rhymes. Each nursery rhyme has a great beat that children can follow using the shaker egg. Freeze songs are a great way for little guys to practice control. Yes, freeze songs are really exciting and often result in a lot of laughter, but they also teache kids to listen, focus, react, and control their bodies!
Comics are a great way to draw kids into reading and graphic novels have fast become one of our most popular collections here at the library. The combination of often shorter text and rich illustrations help to draw a child into a story that they might otherwise not have shown much interest in. Comics and graphic novels are appealing for all ages, too, from children just learning to read chapter books to older, sometimes reluctant readers, all the way up to adults. We have lots of great comics and graphic novels in our print collection but you might not know we have digital collections, too! Comics Plus Library Edition is available as a free app for you to check out comics onto your digital device for one week. Ask your friendly librarian if you need help downloading comics onto your digital device or computer, today! I am a big fan of freeze songs in storytime.
The end of the school year is a perfect time to celebrate, have fun, and practice mindfulness. One way to do this by playing this mindful version of freeze dance. You can also have a variety of music to play songs your kids are not familiar with. Let students know you are going to be mindful of movement by playing freeze dance. Everyone will dance or move when the music starts and freeze when it stops. In between songs there will be prompts. Let students know they have the option of walking or moving in a way that feels right for them. Remind students to be safe and be mindful of each other. A key part to making this a mindful activity is asking purposeful questions to help your students bring kind awareness to the experience.
Before the Frost The CD itself is designed to have the appearance of a vinyl record. Originally, only the Before the Frost portion of the double album was available on CD, and the CD purchase came with a code allowing download of the Until the Freeze portion from the Black Crowes website. A vinyl version was also released, featuring all songs but in a different running order. All tracks written by Chris and Rich Robinson , except where noted. The Black Crowes also released a film on DVD documenting the recording of the album, entitled Cabin Fever , which included several songs not featured on the album.
